The plan:

To get Ebenezer's Carol, by The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing, to No. 1 in time for Christmas. A proper steampunk Christmas song for Christmas No. 1!

What we need to do to achieve this:

1) For Ebenezer's Carol to chart it needs to sell roughly 8,000 copies. The single needs be downloaded as a single, and not as part of the A Very Steampunk Christmas EP. It's available now from iTunes, eMusic and Amazon.

2) So, forward this message to all your friends (be they steampunks or otherwise) but remind them that they must buy the song by itself for it to get into the singles chart.

3) Blog about this, post a link on your Facebook page, Tweet about it, but most importantly - buy the single Ebenezer's Carol!

4) Arrange events themed around this, call the local press, use your contacts - whatever you've got - and we could really make this happen!

In case you didn't already know, this week is Children's Book Week. And so it is with rather opportune timing that my latest book has also been launched this week.

"Launched?" I hear you say. Yes, launched.

The Way of the Warrior is one of those books that you can personalise for the child of your choice. Such books have been around for a while now, but what makes this one different is that it's the first Star Wars book of its kind. And I wrote it (he says proudly).

Crisis on Coruscant and Night of the Necromancer climbing the charts

As of this morning, Crisis on Coruscant is at #93 in the Star Wars chart on Amazon, while Night of the Necromancer (which has only been out a matter of days) is at #71 in Amazon's Children's Science Fiction and Fantasy list. Not bad if I do say so myself.

There's only a matter of days to go now until the release of Night of the Necromancer, the sixty-fourth original single player FF gamebook.

The minions of the Warlock over at Wizard Towers are running a competition in readiness for the book's release, which you can find here.

There are the same number of books in each pile, but Night of the Necromancer is substantially longer than Bloodbones

Those kind people at Fighting Fantasy Towers (a.k.a. Icon Books' Wizard imprint) sent them to me. Night of the Necromancer is the newest of the new Fighting Fantasy gamebooks and is released on 1 April, alongside the brand-spanking-and-really-quite-shiny-new FF format edition of Bloodbones (first published four years ago - can you believe it?).

There's only one month (thirty-one days, 744 hours, 44,640 minutes, 2,678,400 seconds...) to go now until the release of the newest Fighting Fantasy gamebook and you should keep an eye on the FF discussion forums, Facebook page and official website for some more sneaky peeks between now and then.

Crisis on Coruscant has been out for a couple of weeks now and the reviews are starting to come in. There's a very pleasing one (that covers Sue Behrent's Dooku's Secret Army as well) by Scott Weller of STAR WARS AFICIONADO.

You can read it for yourself here - just scroll down to the bottom of the page. The part which made me smile was this: 'Newcomer to the range Jonathan Green proves equally adept in this new universe of interactive storytelling; his tale just as strong and enjoyable to partake in.'

I may be new to this particular series but at the time of writing Crisis on Coruscant it was my tenth gamebook. (My eleventh, Night of the Necromancer, is out this April.)

The first is the Ealing Arts and Crafts Fair, where I shall be selling (and signing) copies of What is Myrrh Anyway? The fair is being held at St James' Church on Saturday 7 November, and I'll be there between 10.00am and 4.00pm, apparently in a marquee outside - so pray for good weather for me!

And then on Tuesday 10 November I shall be appearing at the Beyond Words Festival, at University College School from 2.30-3.30pm. I shall be at Ealing Central Library tomorrow, Saturday 19 September, from 2-4pm talking about writing adventure gamebooks.

Doctor Who Power Rollers

If you like GoGo's Crazy Bones then you'll love Doctor Who Power Rollers. They've been out a while now, but in case you've not seen them yet, a Power Roller is a large ball-bearing, mounted in a silver flecked coloured plastic shell featuring one of sixty different Doctor Who images on top and a side sticker displaying the Doctor Who logo, roller number and the image name.

The ball-bearing allows the Power Rollers to be freely rolled along a flat surface in one of two games suggested on the packets cover. These are Game 1: 'Play your Roller Closest to the Target Wins', and Game 2 'Roll, Knock out your Opponents!'

In case you didn't already know, today is World Book Day. So, seeing as how I now make a living from my books, I thought I would let everyone know about the different sorts of books I write and present something of a back catalogue for your perusal.

Pax Britannia

I am currently writing a series of steampunk science fiction action/adventure novels for Abaddon Books, featuring dandy hero of the British Empire, Ulysses Quicksilver. There are currently three books in the series - Unnatural History, Leviathan Rising, Human Nature - with a fourth, Evolution Expects, published in May, and with more to come after that. Fighting Fantasy

To date I have had five Fighting Fantasy gamebooks published. They are Spellbreaker, Knights of Doom, Curse of the Mummy, Bloodbones and Howl of the Werewolf.

Doctor Who

So far I have written a Doctor Who: Decide Your Destiny interactive adventure gamebook entitled The Horror of Howling Hill and have contributed to the 2010 Official Doctor Who Annual (published this August).

Sonic the Hedgehog

I have also c0-written two Sonic the Hedgehog adventure gamebooks, Theme Park Panic and Stormin' Sonic.

Warhammer

I have written three fantasy novels set within Games Workshop's Warhammer world. They are The Dead and the Damned, Magestorm and Necromancer.

Warhammer 40,000

I have also written three science fiction novels set within Games Workshop's far future medieval universe of Warhammer 40,000. There are two books about the Black Templars and the Armageddon Campaign - Crusade for Armageddon and Conquest of Armageddon - and a stand-alone adventure entitled Iron Hands.

Non-fiction

I have written a number of non-fiction books as well. The most recent of these are Match Wits with the Kids, Go, Go Crazy for those Bones and What is Myrrh Anyway? Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Christmas.

As well as books I have also had published various novellas, short stories, comic strips and magazine articles.

Well, some kids are. They're so desperate to play with their favourite bits of plastic that even when their teachers have banned GoGo's they still smuggle them into school to trade in the playground at breaktime.

And for what started out as a relatively short stocking filler of a book, it's actually turned out to be quite a weighty little book on the subject of Christmas and its traditions.So if you've always wondered why Christmas Day falls on 25 December, or can't understand why Brussels sprouts are always on the menu for Christmas dinner, then this little Christmas cracker of a book is the one for you.

My latest book (the revised and updated version of one I wrote 12 years ago) is out this Thursday. Go, Go Crazy For Those Bones! is all about the latest craze to hit homes and playgrounds across the country (and they say lightning never strikes twice).

GoGo's Crazy Bones really are getting everywhere - they're now even making an appearance in Junior Magazine (the October issue).

The brief news item quotes one Caroline Sanderson who has a book coming out herself this autumn, entitled Kiss Chase and Conkers. Apparently she's something of a expert on collecting things and GoGo's too.

Things are moving on a-pace with Go, Go Crazy For Those Bones. Today I have had the copy editor's comments through and have also seen mock-ups of the cover.

I can't publish them yet here, as they're not yet final, but it's going to look great. Very funky and a suitably noughties update of the nineties original.

The text has been fully revised and updated as well, so the book should be as hip a read as the new generation of GoGo's are cool.

As soon as I have a publication date I'll post it here.

If you're a GoGo's fan and you've always wondered where to keep them, wonder no more. You can now get hold of a GoGo's drawstring bag, to keep your treasured plastic figurines safe.

The bag comes in a packet like this one.

Inside is the bag itself and a packet of new GoGo's, which of course contains three characters and some stickers.

Eleven years ago, my sixth book, entitled Go Gos Are Go Go! was published. It was all about the latest craze hitting playgrounds and homes around the country - GoGo’s® Crazy Bones®!
